Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is the coolest Android gaming phone that allow us to play classic PSOne games purchased from Sony. It happens since Xperia Play has already a built-in PlayStation emulator. But the phone only run games that are officially available for the phone. For games lover, it is not enough.
One of XDA’s developer, yifanlu, working on a way to get the Xperia Play Android gaming phone to run games that aren’t officially available for the phone. This is a great news to play any PlayStation game on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. If you have huge PlayStation’s game, you don’t need to wait the phone’s version. Just use this coming tool from yifanlu to play any PlayStation game on Xperia Play phone.

The project’s progress has been published on XDA forums. Some stuff has been done and will follow with others stuff as future feature. The following are the things that have been done for now such as:
- Reversed engineered all propriety formats (image.ps,zpak,toc,etc)
- Extracted and decrypted emulator binary
- Mapped out important functions
- Patched TOC functions to load unencrypted tables (wrapper library)
- Tool to extract image.ps into an ISO
- Tool to convert an ISO to image.ps
- Tool to generate modified APK with wrapper library, custom text, icon, and data (converter backend)
Next, some things will to do by developer before the first release of the tool available for public. Some things will to do such as:
- Tool to extract Crash Bandicoot and patch some files for the converter
- GUI and command prompt frontend for the converter
