How to Upgrade Firmware BEFW11S4 to DD-WRT

Last Night I’ve just receive old Linksys wireless router from my friend. Yes, this is old version before Linksys WRT series born to the world. I have many memories with this type of Linksys wireless router. This is the first wireless router that I maintain. Many effort spend to know deeply the wireless router at that time since I don’t have enough knowledge about wireless technology, basic knowledge of TCP/IP and how to connect it to Motorola surf board modem.

Now, I have chance again to maintain the Linksys wireless broadband router BEFWS114. And to connected to existing my network, I has been set-up the Linksys wireless router as PPPoE client and connect to my Mikrotik server through dial-in. Set-up is very easy and just spend 5 minutes. Now, it running well and handshake with my laptop Acer.

As fan of dd-wrt, I think more better if Linksys wireless router BEFWS114 could upgrade to dd-wrt firmware like on Linksys WRT54G/GL. Of course with dd-wrt firmware, the Linksys wireless router could have more power and feature like switch to become as client or other . Unfortunately, this type of Linksys is not supported by dd-wrt. I am not sure why the Linksys wireless router BEFWS114 not supported by dd-wrt. And since I don’t have capability to hack the hardware, for now I’ve just use default firmware from Linksys. And the way that I could do is just upgrade to higher version which i believe more stable and bugs fixed.

Linksys.. I love you :)
