Upgrade to Ubuntu Jaunty
Yes, I know this is too late for some Ubuntuers to upgrade the Ubuntu using the latest Ubuntu version of Jaunty Jackalope. Many of them has been upgrade and review the Ubuntu Jaunty jackalope. Some of them happy with it but others need to tweak the Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope before running smoothly on their desktop or laptop. Now, this time is my turn to upgrade my laptop.
Actually, on the D-day plus 1, when Jaunty Jackalope release to the universe
, I upgrade already my laptop. But I got some problems where the sound and wireless did not working well as my expectation. No time to do then I hurry to install back Ubuntu 8.04 to use the laptop back to work as usual. I fell fool when give up at that time, but like Witchwicky captain said on Transformers movie, ‘No sacrifice no victory’.
So, now I ‘ll do the best to make Jaunty Jackalope living on my laptop. I do upgrade using apt-get dist-upgrade not clean install. Why?, because I don’t have any portable HDD to transfer or backup my data. The steps which I do to upgrade to Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope like below;
1. Open terminal, edit the sources list on /etc/apt/sources.list and replace the word intrepid with jaunty
2. Do update sudo apt-get update
3. Do upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then sit back and relax, let the Ubuntu upgrade itself through Internet. Make sure your Internet connection running well to ensure everything ok. How if the upgrade proses has been interrupted?, don’t worry. Just open terminal and type the 3rd step above.
