Upgrade Ubuntu Intrepid to Jaunty on Compaq Presario CQ40

Jaunty has been install completely on my laptop. The way how to upgrade already post on the previous posting, do upgrade by dist-upgrade method. When I do upgrade directly through Internet, need one thousand files to be download then installed on the laptop. I need one night to download all package which needed by Jaunty.

No error, no many question during upgrade. All working well, except the sound. I did not hear any sound from the laptop. So, I need to tweak to return back the sound come to my laptop. I found the how to from mailing list, and better I write down in here to remind me or may be could be use by others.

Ubuntu Jaunty
Downgrade the alsa-base package, use the package from Intrepid version. Just go to http://packages.ubuntu.com. Download it then installed on the laptop. During installation, no error message appear on the screen. Installation very smooth.
Edit the file /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf , Put these line on those file.

options snd-hda-intel model=dell-m4-1
options snd-hda-intel enable-msi=1

If finish, then reboot. The sound will return and ready to play your Mp3, radio streaming or movie. Ubuntu Jaunty was complete and ready to serve.
